11 Jan Copper Vine – “Wine on a Vine”
NOLA’S NEWEST WINE PUB
Lush, sleek, and inviting are the words that come to mind as I recall my experience at Copper Vine. Located on the corner of Poydras Street and O’Keefe Avenue, this wine pub has received a ton of buzz since its opening last fall.
Before its cosmetic transformation and becoming downtown’s newest gastropub, this corner bar was formerly known as Happy’s Irish Pub. It was a special place where I created fond memories with my former colleagues at the City of New Orleans. We patronized our beloved “Happy’s” during happy hour in which we sipped our 2 for 1 “Easy Breezy” specials and munched on freshly popped kernels. Happy’s Irish Pub reminded me of the famous television sit-com Cheers. You can engage in a conversation with anyone sitting at the bar. It was truly a respite for downtown workers and residents to briefly escape the hustle and bustle of the Central Business District.
Fast forward to today, Copper Vine offers the same atmosphere; except, the vibe is a lot airier and more elegant than before. Depending on your mood, you can enjoy your adult beverage and delectable meal indoors or in the lush courtyard that’s decked out in blue and orange furnishings and hanging ivy, ferns, and vine. For my wine connoisseurs, Copper Vine offers 30 wines on tap for customers to taste and discover. As for the food, I have a few favorites that I would like to share. My co-worker and I ordered the duck fat fries and the 8oz waygu beef burger. Y’all! I kid you not. Every bite was so savory and mouth-watering.
In the end, my experience was absolutely wonderful. I encourage everyone, especially downtown locals, to stop by and create a memorable experience of your own.
